Jeppiaar

Equal Opportunity Cell

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of Jeppiaar University is a University-level body constituted in line with the University Grants Commission’s Scheme of Equal Opportunity Centres and the constitutional mandate of social justice under Articles 14, 15, 16, 21 and 46 of the Constitution of India. Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Bhaskaran, the Cell works to safeguard, monitor, and promote equity for every disadvantaged and marginalised group on campus — , economically weaker minorities, women, and persons with disabilities — across all Schools of the University. Its mandate spans ensuring equal opportunity in admissions, academics, and recruitment; providing academic, financial, and social guidance to those who need it; sensitising the campus community to issues of exclusion and bias; and serving as a confidential first point of contact for grievances relating to discrimination or denial of access. The Cell also coordinates closely with the Anti Discrimination Cell and meets at least once every four months to review the progress of ongoing schemes and the resolution of concerns brought before it. Through these efforts, the Equal Opportunity Cell reaffirms Jeppiaar University’s commitment to building a campus where dignity, access, and opportunity are never determined by caste, gender, religion, disability, or economic background.
