DR J VERONICA SHALINI
Professor & Dean

Dr. Veronica Shalini is a passionate Professor working with a multidisciplinary approach in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences at Jeppiaar University. She received her Ph.D. from Madras University in the year 2005 and her Master’s and Bachelor’s from Bharathidasan University. Her doctoral work took place over a period of five years of intense research on Epithelial Cancer Mucin Biology and Human Papilloma Virus Infection in Uterine Cervical Cancer Patients from the Cancer Research Division Lab in the Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum.The cancer research model developed by her was highly phenomenal in connecting Dr. Veronica with bench-to-bedside cancer research. This study enabled her research protocols to receive grants from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, and from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR).
Her research work was published in notable national and international journals such as Gynecologic Oncology, The Cancer Journal, Current Science, and the Indian Journal of Cancer. Besides having about 25 peer-reviewed research publications to her credit, she has authored two articles in the Education Page of the dailies The Hindu and The Times of India. Her teaching expertise ranges across the fields of Molecular Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Biology, Microbiology, Viral Biology, and Cancer Biology & Cancer Research.
During her tenure of mentoring, she edifies students’ minds to fit the expectations of the biomedical industries. Most of her students are well-placed globally in leading pharma industries, besides a few of them pursuing their bioscience research and gaining doctoral degrees in cancer research abroad.
The prime tasks such as access to foreign language course training, eligibility test models to study postgraduate courses in foreign universities with good scores, and information about opportunities and scholarships by the abroad universities are the additional upskills provided by Dr. Veronica through outsourcing leading consultants. She is a life member of professional bodies such as the Indian Association of Cancer Research, Indian Society of Cell Biology, and the Society for Biotechnologists (India).
Mr. K. PRASANNA M.Tech. (Biotechnology)
Assistant Professor

Mr. K. Prasanna completed his B.Tech (Biotechnology) from Prathyusha Institute of Technology and Management, affiliated to Anna University, in 2013; M.Tech (Biotechnology) from Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology, affiliated to Anna University, with Distinction in 2015; and a PG Diploma in Dairy Technology from Annamalai University in 2015. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences, Jeppiaar University. Presently, he is working on research areas including medicinal plants, alternate fuel production from marine biomass, and production of mushrooms (edible and medicinal). He has published six research papers in peer-reviewed journals and five research papers in conference proceeding publications, contributing to academic knowledge by guiding students' research projects.
To add an additional feather to his cap, he has co-authored a book titled “Environmental Science and Studies”, published by Charulatha Publications. Adding to his academic and research credentials, Mr. Prasanna K has presented 24 research papers at national and international conferences, three research papers and posters in international conferences, and has participated in nine seminars and eight workshops to enhance his scientific knowledge.
He provides significant support to his department colleagues and peers by taking on key responsibilities in the Department Exam Cell. He is also noted for his meticulous work as a NAAC Coordinator and IQAC member, and is a life member of the professional society Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI).
Ms. Preetha Jeyashree.S (M. Tech Biotechnology)
Assistant Professor

Ms. Preetha Jeyashree S is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences (SSAHS) at Jeppiaar University, Chennai. She holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from Jeppiaar Engineering College. With a strong academic foundation and practical training, she is committed to advancing the field of biotechnology through both research and teaching.
She has gained significant hands-on experience through her internship and in-plant training at Bioklone Biotech Pvt. Ltd., SIPCOT, Siruseri, Chennai, where her work focused on antibody analysis from COVID-19 convalescent patients, animal cell culture techniques, and polyclonal antibody development. She has also worked extensively with chromatographic techniques, SDS-PAGE, and ELISA. Her postgraduate research involved the extraction and analysis of active pharmaceutical ingredients from a novel probiotic strain, Bacillus subtilis SK09, and evaluating its anti-cancer potential against leukemia cell lines, showcasing her expertise in drug discovery and cancer biology.
Her research interests span across drug discovery, pharmaceutical technology, cancer biology, immunotherapy, the application of bioenergy compounds in pharmaceutical formulations, and food technology. A passionate educator, Ms. Preetha is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of biotechnologists and believes in their holistic development. Her personal motto, “Every living being deserves to live and die healthy,” continues to inspire her approach to teaching and research.
Ms D.Sylvia Nithila Illavarasi
Assistant Professor-Forensic Science

Ms. Sylvia is a dedicated educator and instructional developer in the field of Forensic Science. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2021 and her postgraduate degree in Forensic Science in 2024 from the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai. She is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in Forensic Science at the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences, Jeppiaar University.
Her areas of specialization include Forensic Biology, Forensic Chemistry, and Forensic Psychology. Her research paper titled “A Study of Childhood Trauma Among Emerging Young Adults” highlights the intersection of forensic science and psychology. She has worked with experienced professionals during her internship at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Pune, where she gained hands-on experience in handling forensic evidence. Additionally, she served as a Resource Person at a national conference hosted by Apollo College of Nursing. She also possesses in-depth knowledge of setting up forensic science laboratories aligned with university infrastructure and standards.
Ms. Sylvia believes in an interactive, student-centered teaching approach that blends theoretical understanding with practical application. By incorporating case studies, hands-on activities, and real-world examples, she encourages critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and strong communication skills. Her ultimate goal is to shape well-rounded forensic professionals who are not only technically competent but also deeply aware of the ethical and legal responsibilities inherent in their work.
Ms. Sreya Dharan (M.Sc. Forensic Science)
Assistant Professor of Forensic Science

An Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Science (SSAHS) at Jeppiaar University, she brings a strong academic background with a Master’s degree in Forensic Science from Centurion University, Odisha, and a Bachelor's degree from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore. With a specialization in Forensic Biology, her expertise spans across multiple areas of forensic science, supported by extensive hands-on experience gained during her academic journey.
Her practical training includes a focused internship at Centurion University’s Centre of Genetics and Genomes, where she engaged in DNA extraction from plant cells under various environmental conditions. She also completed an intensive internship at Clue4 Evidence Laboratory, specializing in forensic document examination, where she developed skills in analyzing and verifying document authenticity. Her Master’s research was centered on DNA degradation in different soil types, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in forensic biology.
Her academic and research interests include DNA degradation, forensic document examination, and forensic serology. Deeply committed to education, she is passionate about mentoring students and preparing them for successful careers in forensic science. Through her teaching and guidance, she strives to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a strong ethical foundation among her students.
Ms. Sneha. S
Assistant Professor of Forensic Science

Ms. Sneha S is a dedicated academic and professional in the fields of Forensic
Science and Criminology. She completed her B.Sc. in Forensic Science from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Tamil Nadu, in 2022, and M.Sc. in Criminology and Forensic Science from Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute, Chennai, in 2024.
Currently, she holds the position of Assistant Professor at Jeppiaar University in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences.
Her research paper, titled “Correlation Between the Stature and Handprint Dimensions in Chennai Population,” was published in the International Journal for Multidisciplinary Research (IJFMR), a reputable, peer-reviewed journal.
Ms. Sneha has also gained valuable hands-on experience through various internships: one at SK Detective Bureau of India, Chennai, one at Government Fire and Safety, Kilpauk, Chennai, another at Vaigai Law Firm in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and at the Sarvothaya
Shooting Academy, Chennai. She has completed certification courses in fingerprint and
document examination, as well as participated in training programs on Ballistics and Cyber Security, enhancing her expertise in these critical areas.
Ms.Divya Kanth.S
Assistant Professor

Ms. Divya Kanth.S is an Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Sciences at Jeppiaar University. With an M.E in Computer Science and Engineering, she brings 5 years of experience as a PGT teacher in Computer Science and Computer Applications. Her teaching expertise spans BCA and B.Sc Computer Science courses. She is affiliated with the Computer Society of India (CSI) and is committed to nurturing innovative minds. Her research interests include Image processing, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, etc.. Dedicated to academic excellence, she strives to inspire and educate the next generation of technology leaders.
In addition to her academic credentials, Ms. Divya Kanth.S has had the privilege of serving as a Hands-on Practice Trainer for the IECD syllabus affiliated by Bharathidasan University, where she effectively trained over 100+ high school students. This enriching experience has honed my teaching skills, allowing me to craft engaging, interactive learning experiences that foster deep understanding and practical application of concepts. Through this role, she has developed a passion for empowering young minds and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
Mrs. P. Anuja MCA
Assistant Professor

An accomplished academician with a strong educational background, she holds a Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from Sona College of Technology, affiliated with Anna University, completed in 2020. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) with Distinction from Padmavani Arts and Science College for Women, affiliated with Periyar University, in 2018. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Science at Jeppiaar University, where she contributes to academic excellence and innovation in the field of computer science.
With a unique blend of academic and industry experience, she brings a dynamic perspective to the classroom. Her areas of expertise include Data Mining, Data Warehousing, Machine Learning, Software Development, Web Development, Data Science, and DevOps. She is proficient in multiple programming languages, including Python and Java, and is committed to fostering a hands-on, project-based learning environment that bridges theoretical knowledge with real-world application.
In addition to her academic pursuits, she has amassed over 1.5 years of professional experience in the tech industry, particularly in CRM cloud-based platforms. She has played key roles in Salesforce development, with specialization in Apex programming and trigger creation. This practical experience enhances her teaching methodology, allowing her to mentor students with insights drawn from both academic rigor and industry relevance.
Ms. S. Mari Subbulakshmi
Assistant Professor

She is an accomplished educator and software developer, currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the School of Sciences and Allied Health Science at Jeppiaar University, Chennai. Her academic journey began with the completion of a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree from Sri Ram Nallamani Yadhava College of Arts and Science in 2022. This institution is affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli, where she cultivated a solid foundation in computer science. Driven by her passion for technology and education, she pursued her Master of Computer Applications (MCA) from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, graduating in 2024. Her educational background has equipped her with comprehensive knowledge and skills essential to her field, preparing her for her role as an instructor and mentor to aspiring computer science students.
In addition to her academic credentials, She has gained significant hands-on experience in the industry. She completed an internship in 2023 as a front-end developer with Brassy Technologies, an information technology company based in Tirunelveli. This role allowed her to apply her skills in a practical environment, contributing to the development of web applications and further enhancing her proficiency in front-end technologies. Her experience in front-end development has been instrumental in building her practical understanding of the IT field, particularly in the areas of website design and user experience, making her well-versed in industry standards and practices.
She has also excelled in training students, reflecting her dedication to education and student development. Prior to her current position, she worked as a trainee in a private institution, where she conducted training sessions in programming languages. Additionally, she provided students with valuable guidance on enhancing their communication skills, supporting their overall professional development. Her commitment to fostering both technical and interpersonal skills in her students has made her a respected educator, and she continues to inspire and mentor students in her role at Jeppiaar University. Assistant Professor

As an highly accomplished academician with a strong background in Computer Science. She graduated with distinction in B.Sc (Computer Science) from Government Arts and Science College for Women, affiliated to Periyar University in 2022, and later earned her M.Sc (Computer Science) with distinction from the same institution in 2024. Currently, She is Pursuing M.Tech(Computer Science Enginerring)
With a passion for teaching and research, she serves as an Assistant Professor at Jeppiaar University, where she shares her expertise in Software Testing and enthusiasm for emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data Computing. Her research focuses on Object-Oriented Programming (OOPS) and IoT, aiming to explore innovative solutions.
She incorporates Design Thinking into her teaching, fostering creative problem-solving skills. Her industry-relevant skills include Software Testing, IoT (NPTEL certified), Big Data Computing, and Database Management Systems (DBMS) with MySQL expertise. Dr. Jerin Austin Dhas.J
Associate Professor and Research Supervisor of English

As an experienced research faculty, he is currently guiding three Ph.D. research scholars under the Department of English, under the Jeppiaar Research Development Organisation (JRDO). An alumnus of renowned institutions such as the University of Madras, Loyola College, and Anna University (CEG), he has over six years of research experience and five years of teaching expertise in higher education. His academic interests are diverse, with significant contributions to fields such as Ecocriticism, Folklore, Translation Studies, Eco- Translatology, Technical English, and English Language Teaching. He has handled a wide range of subjects including General English (University of Madras and Loyola College), Comparative Literature, Green Literature, Philosophy of Literature, Employability Skills, Translation Studies, Technical and Academic Writing. His Ph.D. dissertation focused on “Translating Eco-Wisdom: An Exploratory Study of Ki. Rajanarayanan’s Select Works,” and his earlier academic pursuits explored themes like colonialism in African literature and the pedagogical value of visual adaptations in ESL instruction. Dr. Jerin has an impressive portfolio of publications and conference presentations, with many SCOPUS-indexed articles and several UGC Care-listed journal publications to his credit. He has presented research at over six international conferences, including the World Disability Conference and other forums across premier institutions. He has published works on post-colonialism in Africa, ecological consciousness in children’s literature, and translation of Tamil folklore. He actively supervises Ph.D. scholars and regularly engages in scholarly activities such as paper reviewing, viva voce evaluation, and guest lecturing, including a recent invited talk on “Trends in Ecocriticism” at VelTech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala Institute of Science and Technology.
A dynamic educator and lifelong learner, Dr. Jerin has successfully completed the U.S.- sponsored Online Professional English Network (OPEN) course titled “Creating and Implementing Online Courses” offered by Arizona State University, with support from the
U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, and the RELO, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. He has participated in many faculty development programs and workshops, including those on AI in English Language Teaching, Pedagogical Emotional Competence, Research Methodology, and ICT in Language Instruction. He has taken several initiatives in helping ESL learners with special classes and by implementing activity-based language learning classrooms. His teaching philosophy is rooted in critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and nurturing a deeper understanding of language, literature, and cultural contexts among students.
Dr. P. Manikandan
Associate Professor and Research Supervisor, Department of Tamil

Dr. P. Manikandan with nearly four years of academic experience, brings a strong foundation in both classical and modern Tamil literature. He holds a Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. in Tamil from Bharathidasan University and has successfully qualified national-level eligibility tests, including the UGC-NET (twice) and the Tamil Nadu State Eligibility Test (SET).
His research interests span across Sangam literature and contemporary Tamil writing. He has authored more than 20 research articles in reputed international journals and presented over 10 papers at national and international conferences. He is also an established writer, having published multiple books, including Sirappueenum; Selvamum Eenum, Aneedhikkana Araikooval, and Sollamal Sentra Siragugal. As a guest speaker, he has been invited to several academic institutions to deliver lectures on Tamil language and literature, including sessions on Computational Tamil.
Dr. Manikandan is a recipient of several awards recognizing his contributions to Tamil literature, research, and education. Notably, in 2024 and 2025 alone, he has been honoured with distinctions such as the Ilakkiya Chemmal Award, Maram Poortiya Aravor Award, Social Activist Award, Best Teacher Award, Kalvi Sudar Award, Sindhanai Neriyalar Award, and the Best Tamil Poet Award His leadership roles in literary and cultural organizations, such as Tamizh Pattarai Ilakkiya Peravai and Tamil Nadu Progressive Literary Forum, reflect his continued commitment to the enrichment of Tamil language and culture.
